What Sets B2 Apart From Other Clubs? Athletes on our volleyball club teams will receive the benefits of training from both indoor volleyball and beach volleyball. USA Volleyball’s Director of Sports Development, John Kessel, believes to improve your indoor volleyball game, beach volleyball is where it’s at. By having to touch the ball almost every rally, as well as playing every position, beach volleyball fine tunes your focus on your individual skills.
Beach training takes place at our private beach volleyball facility, B2 Courts. Our players compete in beach tournaments and club vs club duels at B2 Courts, other valley clubs and Santa Cruz Main Beach.
The Hidden Truths of Indoor Club Season & Tryouts
As the club seasons spin with dizzying speed from one to the next, arm yourself with essential insights to navigate the tryout process with confidence and flair for the upcoming campaign.
A Race Against Time
In a mere 24-72 hours, you’re pressed to pledge a small fortune for a nine-month journey, yet some clubs may value your wallet over your talent. Tryout for multiple clubs, don’t be pressured on-the-spot to accept a position on a roster.
The Pecking Order
Dare to ask: were you the first heralded or the final pick for the team? This insight reveals your likely court time, unless the team runs the elusive 6-2 offense, where roles shift like sands in an hourglass.
Prioritizing Progress Over Prestige
Align your choice with your athlete’s long-term vision. A lower-tier team often offers more court time and critical in-game experience, far outweighing the fleeting allure of a “prestigious” team where one risks being a practice player with minimal game action.
The Guardians of Your Investment
With a season’s cost soaring toward $10,000, scrutiny is essential. Research your coaches thoroughly—beyond the gloss of social media or a single opinion. Don’t choose a team because of the name of the club. Investigate the coaches you will be playing for. Their experience, track record, and whether they evolve with the sport or cling to outdated methods.
Training, Not Time, is the Promise
Confirm whether your athlete will master multiple positions in practice or be tethered to one role all season. For younger players, versatility is vital, building a broad foundation for future success.
The Gamble of Travel Teams
Out-of-state travel teams can demand $2,000 per weekend, yet there’s no guarantee of playtime. Depending on your athlete’s seasonal performance, you may find yourself funding a sideline cheering role rather than active competition.
The Beach: A Breath of Freedom
Enter the beach volleyball realm, where playing time is assured for all! With a flexible tournament schedule tailored to your needs, athletes hone every skill through abundant reps. Independence and confidence soar, as coaches are sidelined during matches, leaving players to shine unaided.
Escaping the Grind
The relentless pace of indoor club schedules can sap even the most ardent spirits. Integrating beach volleyball offers a thrilling challenge, shattering the monotony of indoor practices. With sun, sand, and music as your stage, the pressure of playing time fades, replaced by a vibrant pursuit of skill and joy.
